Rebecca and Christyn Taylor, took to the stage in Washington, D.C. on October 26, 2023 as George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award 2023 honorees for being “inspiring changemakers” and ”bright lights in this world” for their national impact raising awareness and funds to fight pediatric pancreatitis.
The George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards Celebration honors the legacy of President George H.W. Bush and prior award recipients who “demonstrated the transformative power of service to drive significant and sustained impact through their everyday actions.” Three former presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama—serve as Honorary Co-chairs of the Points of Light Award.
“I want to thank you all for the incredible joy this award has brought me,” said Rebecca Taylor, Founder of Rebecca’s Wish. “To show our beautiful patients that they, too, can make a difference, and that they are worthy of a real and meaningful life.”
“Great purpose can evolve from great adversity,” said Christyn Taylor, President of Rebecca’s Wish. “As a mom, I would never have chosen this for my daughter, but we now get the privilege to help thousands, if not tens of thousands, of children so they do not have to walk the difficult journey we did,” said Christyn. “As Texans, this award is especially meaningful to us given our lifelong admiration and respect for President Bush. It is a tremendous honor to receive this very special award.”
Attending the ceremony was Rebecca’s father, Brian, her brother Nicholas who is also a Brown Scholar, younger brother Alexander and extended family members.
