A Backpack-Size Operating Room: Texas A&M Students Develop Surgical Kit for Emergency Situations

Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine student, Carson Benner (L-R, 2)

Texas A&M EnMed students have developed the WildOR Kit—a backpack-sized surgical toolkit designed for life-saving procedures in combat zones and disaster areas. Compact and reusable, it allows doctors to perform critical surgeries when operating rooms aren’t accessible. Pending FDA approval and funding, the kit could be field-ready within three years.
