Jonathan graduated from A&M in 2010 with a degree in English. He earned the Graduating Senior Award from the English department as well as the department’s Research Essay Prize for his paper “Wisdom’s Sister: Milton’s Muse in Biblical and Theological Context.” Jonathan won the Charles Gordone Award for undergraduate fiction for his short story “Ray County.” He was named a University Scholar and an Honors Undergraduate Research Fellow. As a Research Fellow, he completed a thesis entitled “A Novel Approach: Religious Epistemology in Marilynne Robinson’s Gilead” under Dr. Hugh McCann in the Philosophy department. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honors societies, and was selected to participate in the Cornerstone Liberal Arts Freshman Honors Program. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife Jennifer and earned his PhD in English and American Literature at Washington University in St. Louis. He stated that at A&M, he met his wife, made his best friends, and discovered his vocation. He certainly learned a lot in the classroom, but A&M’s biggest strength is its people. He said there is no one who he would rather surround himself with during a crucial time in his personal development than the Fightin’ Texas Aggies.
