At the conclusion of The Houston Methodist Summer Undergraduate Research Internship, Brown Scholars Vibha Velur and Anaya Bhawsinka received the Outstanding Intern Award. This award recognizes interns who demonstrate unparalleled dedication, initiative and outstanding performance during the 10-week internship. Ananya also received the Leadership Award for her initiative and group leader volunteering efforts.
Vibha’s research investigated the impact of cell culture methods on infrapatellar-derived mesenchymal stem cells (FP-MSCs) and their immunomodulatory potential.
Ananya’s research investigated the potential connection between astrocytes in the brain and amyloid oligomers (a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease) to shed light on the molecular pathways through which Alzheimer’s disease progresses.
